My goodness...what terrible news about a person who along with his family contributed so much to the sport.

The sport has lost another of the 'greats'. All of us just lost a piece of skydiving history and a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sherry and close friends and family at this time.

Dear Skydive Dallas friends,

Sherry Schrimsher and her family have asked me to provide the following information about Jerry's unfortunate death last Saturday:

The best medical information we have available clearly indicates that Jerry died of a massive heart attack experienced at the end of a completely normal skydive. All of his equipment functioned normally and there is no reason to believe that anything could have been done to prevent this tragic happening.

Jerry's family expresses their thanks for all of your interest and kindness during this difficult time. An announcement on the timing of memorial services will follow shortly.

I have never posted to this group, haven't made a jump in 12 years. But many of my most treasured memories are from the years I spent skydiving around Dallas. Jerry and Sherry Schrimsher were a big part of what made it all special.

Jerry was a wonderful fellow, and I know he will be sorely missed.

sadly remembering Jerry.....

In addition to the previous message that I forwarded on to the newgroup from Skydive Dallas I wanted to share something that Jessica told me Saturday evening as we watched on of the most incredible Texas sunset and reflected on what Jerry ment to us. I'm sure that many of us agree with this thought.

'God called Jerry home and put him under a canopy'

Sadly we often don't realize how much the people around us bless our lives until they are gone. I will miss Jerry. He was a mentor and a friend.
