Getting Started

Hi, You've got the best book you can get for where you're at. Devour it before your first AFF and most of the ground school will basically be a review. http://www.dropzone.com has a bunch of info you can use, lots of links, classified ads, an auction and several 'forums' where you can ask questions too. http://www.square1.com has pics, descriptions and prices of the various pieces of equipment you'll want to get. http://www.enclave.com has a massive list of skydive related links and classifieds. If canopy control is your biggest worry and the explanation in the book doesn't help, pick up the video 'Fly like a pro' or the canopy control video put out by Skydive University. Either one is around $20; the Skydive U tape includes a book. Sell all your other toys; you won't need 'em anymore! Welcome and good luck! Blue skies,

The others here covered everything already.... 6-8 hrs sounds like a long time, but there is a lot to go over, and as you get involved with the class the time will go fast. They talk about everything from the fact that your on an airport to emergency procedures, to falling stable. We had a rig in the class and they showed us everything on it, also showed pictures of what the different mals look like, and what to do in the case of each one.
