I had a thought, and I would like feedback on whether it was worth thinking or is it a complete waste of time. Here goes:

Someone's sense of balance on the ground is very important to their ability to fly the sky. Being able to automatically stay stable on the ground seems very linked to being able to hold stable in the air, but it seems to be more important than that. A good sense of balance on the ground has a lot to do with automatically responding to what your body is telling you about the situation. This would also seem to be a key to being able to do any number of things in an environment where you can't see a bubble of turbulence coming. So now the thought, would some kind of routine to improve a person's balance on the ground be a way to help jumpers who have a hard time in the air? If so, that would let them improve their jumping even when they aren't at a DZ.

The one thing you can do on the ground that definitely will help you in the air is go to skyventure. Otherwise, I think anything that helps balance will help a slight bit, but remember on the ground there is no active medium other than gravity, and in the air you have 120mph of wind. Troy

In order to improve one's abilities at any given sport or activity requires practice, including body flight. The trouble is you can only practice skydiving abilities for about 60 seconds at a time. The average weekend jumper may make 8 to a dozen or so jumps per week. You can't expect to get good at anything real quickly when you can only devote 8 to 12 minutes per week practicing. To hone your skills at body flight requires air time. Keep the attitude that you're doing it for the fun, and that every jump is successful as long as you can walk away from the landing.
