I think it's a very good choice, however, i still prefer the idea of a large D-ring; in an incomfortable situation, i believe it will be faster to find, grab and pull (with the reserve handle, time is critical). I just pay more attention to my handles.
Then put riser inserts. Personally, I prefer a cutaway pad because there is a significant part of the jump where snaging the cutaway handle would be deadly (when you land in a tree, a pad is easier to protect). Anyway, apparently, you don't have significantly more force pulling on a soft loop than on a good pad.
