Look for an ad in Parachutist or Skydiving Mag (classifieds) in the past 2 or 3 months. Knew someone that sent his in for the 'treatment.' It worked pretty well, and for another 4-500 jumps..

I have had the silicone treatment on my canopy. I thought it helped right from the get go. The material was just as slick as 0p. But it seems that over time the silicone has slowly worn off.

I recently had to have my canopy reline. Tension knot broke two d lines. After I got the canopy back I could really tell a difference. Quicker handling and faster/better flaring. I tiptoed my last landing when there was no wind.

Never did that before.

What they are using is food grade silicone. Basically water based. I wished I had tested the perosity before I sent it off, but the canopy still stops a good deal of air flowing through it.

Both things saved me from getting a new canopy.

I fly a maverone, if that really matters.

Now that we have had answers to this question, has anybody any clue if those treatments are harmless to materials used in parachute construction?
