Hey ....it's time to act. The magazines and the ballots have been sent out.

Here's BT's info...once again for all of you that need a memory refresher....He's the man for the job...no doubt. Let's not miss this opportunity to get him working for us.

Dear Members:

I would like to see BT (Bob) Taylor re-installed in the position of Northwest Regional Director. He is not a DZO and would not be filling this position to further any personal agendas or because he has suddenly 'come up with some time on his hands'.

When BT was the Regional Director (Jan 1996-Jan 1999), he sent out consistent newsletters (which I especially appreciated), special notices on upcoming events or USPA issues, and of course, he submitted regular award presentation pictures to Parachutist Magazine. I personally know of one instance when he drove from Boise to the Portland area ( the better part of 500 miles) to meet with friends and family of a skydiver that was killed in a tragic skydiving accident. I also know that many of his trips and activities on behalf of the USPA were in fact subsidized by his own personal income, simply because funds are limited and he is a great promoter of the sport and dedicated to the idea of a more unified membership.

Attaining the position of Northwest Regional Director is one thing and actually doing the job is another. It goes far beyond simply attending board meetings twice a year. It's an extremely large area, ranging from Bozeman, Montana, to Eugene, Oregon, and actually even includes the state of Alaska. There are about 27 DZ's ( BT believes that he has visited 25 of these 27 DZ's during his time in office, and I believe that in itself to be impressive!), and approximately 38 S &TA's for the Director to be dealing with. This position requires a huge investment of personal time and money, and of course anyone holding the position can be a regular target for any disgruntled skydiver or DZO that needs a quick pressure release.

BT has been involved in skydiving for over 30 years and his list of credits includes such prestigious events as:

1. The USFET Exhibition Team in 1975 2. World Championship 8 Way Team in 1977 3. US Olympic Exhibition Team in 1988 at Seoul, Korea. 4. 1995 300 Way Record Attempt in Russia 5. The Current World Record 282 Way in Thailand in 1999.

Here's a man with thousands of jumps, and a vast knowledge of the sport and everything else that goes along with the territory. On the basis of everything I've stated above, I believe that BT Taylor should be the next Northwest Regional Director. I spoke to BT this morning and he told me that if he was to win by a 'write in ' ballot. HE WILL ACCEPT THE POSITION!!. If you need to

Please don't waste your vote pulling a 'prank' on a friend. There have been indications that some people think it might be funny to write in names of people that are not even interested in the position. That would be a complete waste, and a complete disservice to the sport jumper that works an every day job, but lives to skydive. Also, please think twice about voting for your local DZO who probably wouldn't mind having the title, but won't be prepared to actually do the job, and walk the walk

It won't take much to win this election....just good common sense and your vote. Please give this some thought and vote for BT Taylor.

BT is a really good guy, he doesn't need the punishment. Pete Hill on the other hand......deserves as much as we can dish out!

This is the kind of attitude we need to get away from. Some people think it's cute to 'elect' someone as a prank or vote for someone to 'get back at them' for something. Come on Dave, let's not cloud the issue. Let's get serious and write BT in and do some good for the sport.

Anyone notice that there weren't any pictures submitted from the NW in this months Parachutist?

I'm not saying BT wouldn't be better than what we've got, but honestly, I also think Pete Hill would 'do some good for the sport'.

What's the worst that can happen, Jessie gets re-elected? Regardless of the stuff everyone's saying about the job she's done, or not done as the case may be, it hasn't negatively affected my jumping one bit. Pictures in Wings & Things are cute & fun and everything, but they're just not all that important to me. Similarly, whether she shows up at our DZ (non-USPA) isn't that important to me, though it's better if she does, cuz she's fun to jump with and always brings a turbine
